Achieving the proper communication of Sierra Club's mission identity using iconography was difficult, but not impossible. I found the solution not in the icons themselves, but in the material in which each icon is made. Embroidered patches has always been a staple of the outdoors and National Parks community and is fundamental in understanding who the Sierra Club is here to serve. I used an advanced Adobe Photoshop texture package from Spoon Graphics to achieve the fine embroidered look of the patches.
